Are you as shocked as Santa at the title?
I am not surprised.
Here are 5 reasons you must not book a sport massage.
You are perfect. As much as I state myself how perfect I am. Quite frankly. I am not. And to all those who know me personally you are all far from it. Sorry not sorry. Hypothetically speaking however even if you were perfect you may want to feel even more perfect and even you too may benefit from a sport massage.
You are a health care professional and have advised yourself you are the pinnacle of health, fitness and wellbeing. Sorry to burst your bubble but i bet you would feel much better after a sport massage. Those long shifts with countless hours on the feet are difficult. I find my 4 week placements hard enough. Not to mention the mental fitness needed in the job. I could go on forever about how hard working in healthcare is, especially the NHS. But if you are reading this i am sure you understand.
Your sport team already has a physio. This is really great your team takes good care of you. But when was the last time you seen them for a hands on treatment. It is more likely they have limited time and have to prioritise players accordingly. Even if you did manage to get some hands on treatment I can almost guarantee it was for a maximum of 10 minutes.
You don't have the time. I have heard it before. I will hear it again. This is a lie. Especially due to the fact I provide appointments at various times during the week!
I never found it useful in the past. That is a real shame. However I do pride myself on my differentiation from other therapists. Treatments by myself are not a case of lie down and tell me what you would like worked on. Only after a quick and thorough examination will the sport massage start as this provides you with the best treatment. The way I see it is you wouldn't go to the dentist and open your mouth to get your tooth fixed. You would have a chat about your issues first before an examination is conducted. Only then would the procedure take place.
And there we go. 5 Reasons you must not book in for a sport massage.
